Launching Big Ideas

Stability to crisis to rebirth, is a cycle as old as civilization.  Our 20th century legacy systems are experiencing the volatility of this cycling this pattern. Most people experience this cycle as crisis. However, for some, these seeds of rebirth are also sprout big ideas. These new leaders and enterprises are full of vision, hope and innovation. Taylor Insight is helping launch this next generation of Big Ideas and the leader and enterprise that spring forth from them.

  • Big Ideas. Moving from an idea to an outcome requires a 'leap of faith'. Taylor Insights is ready to join you in that leap as a thought partner, researcher, coach, catalyst and first enthusiastic fan.

  • Creating Structure. Building the foundations of a new enterprise can feel overwhelming. Taylor Insight offers experience building the legal, governance, partner network, financial, operational and executive leadership of many start-up coalitions and companies. Walking a new path with a partner who knows the way creates the critical ingredient for success for a leap of faith: confidence. 

  • Funding.  Taylor Insight has the network and know-how in Oregon to create a plan for start-up enterprises that need help opening the door to funders and developing sustainable fundraising strategies.

Facilitation & Planning

Building trust has never been more critical to the success of any enterprise. The fissures in our culture spill over into every part of our activities including the workplace, coalition building, community building and business development.   These challenges bring both risks and opportunities.   

 

Taylor Insight engages facilitation from an equity lens.  Working with clients that share an understanding that building strong bonds of trust first will enrich both the quality of the work and bonds between the coalition partners. We will build trusting relationships that are durable transferable from one coalition or project tot he next. 

  • Equity.  Working with clients we design a process grounded in diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging and popular education that best meets the needs and time constraints of the group.

  • Strategic Planning.  Clients select from traditional templates such as: 3-5 year strategic plans supported by 30/90/120 work plans and Gantt charts. Alternatively, clients collaborate on equity-led planning practices.

  • Leadership Development.  Taylor Insight specializes in executive coaching for leaders adapting to new expectations around emotional intelligence (EI) and leading their teams to continuously improve diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.

Interim Executive Leadership

Taylor Insight specializes in serving in an interim executive director role during start-up and transition phases.

Start-ups: Executive leadership during start-up requires a broad base of both strategic and operational skills. Start-ups also benefit from the clear expectation that part of the interim role is to lead the recruitment and retention effort for a permenant executive leader.

 

Transitions: Taylor Insight also supports organizations transitioning between executive leaders. The priority is ensuring operational, financial and staff stability until the new, permanent leader arrives. This requires both a wide array of executive skills and a unique approach to showing up as calm and confident, rather than visionary influence. Taylor Insight can also assist the Board of Directors in conducting an environmental scan as part of the hiring process for a permanent executive leader. Key functions for interim leadership include:

  • Operational Stability. Programs, finance, HR and communications.

  • Execution. Maintaining focus and hitting key metrics and benchmarks.

  • Organizational Readiness. Designing a smart orientation and on-boarding of the incoming leader while preparing staff, management and community partners for the incoming leader.
